We rely on help from volunteers to sew pillowcases. Volunteers can be individuals, friends and families, sewing or quilting groups, community groups such as scouts, school clubs, youth groups and 4-H; anyone who is willing and interested.
The finished size for the pillowcases should fit a standard size pillowcase. You can finish the seams anyway you would like such as zig zag, serge, french seam, etc. For each pillowcase, you will need: cotton or flannel- 27" for the body and 10" for the border. If you prefer to make a polar fleece, you will need 7/8 yard.
One fun idea that was recently shared with me, an 11 year old friend is holding a 'Pillowcase Party'; a sleep over with friends and they'll make pillowcases and donate the finished cases when finished.
Do you have fabric left over from a project that could be made into a pillowcase or would like to donate some fabric? We are always in need of fabric!
Would you or your organization like to hold a sew day? Either for just your group or one that the community can be invited to? Contact the regional coordinator Debra Bartz.
Hold a can/bottle drive, car wash, etc.
